"If you continue to follow just your own ideas about what's good and right for childen and their families, even if those ideas are a result of your traning, you may be doing a dissevice to children whose parents disagree with you.  I try to impagine a world in which oppression is a thing of the past and wquity flourishes, a world that is unified not by bland smaeness, but rich in diversity."

I do not believe in telling people how to parent… I don’t like parenting courses. I don’t think they really serve a purpose, and, in a way, they are negative. They say, “We know how to do it and you don’t.”  Is that what you really want to put over with parents?”

  1. I love the quote from Louise and can relate to feeling like everything within me pulled me to teach, as I know I am meant to be in this profession!

I also liked the quote from Raymond acknowledging that we may not be able to save the whole world but what a difference we can make in our own community. It brings me down and reminds me of what is important. If it were to grow from there, it would be a bonus!

  2. I also love the quote from Raymond!! Some people try to save the world and it gets too difficult and then they quit. This quote really puts it into perspective to start off small and save the ones around you.

  3. I too loved Raymond's quote. So often we see the bad news on tv and want to save the world. As mothers and teachers, we have a certain desire to make things better for everyone. I like that Raymond's take on things is elegant in its simplicity. Do what you can do here and now...in this moment. I love that!

  4. I really like the quote you posted from Raymond Hernandes. I think it can be very easy to get caught up in the idea that we can save the world, but really we can not. Making a difference in the community you are in is a great way to get the attention of a smaller sector, lead by excample, and give hope to your neighbors.
